“Travel expands the mind and fills the gap."
Enjoying my 10-hour flight from Tokyo on Christmas Day, I looked at my list of must-go cities in the world - checked Moscow and St Petersburg. I have always dreamt of coming and venturing into these cities. Both have world-class museums and magnificent palaces that would hold the attention of any tourist and I couldn't be more excited.
It was a smooth flight from boarding to immigration; even the train ride from the airport to the city center. Except for the sim card I bought at a stall in the airport where they charged me $32, there weren't any major concerns I encountered.
I had to say it was the best winter I have ever experienced so far. I quote Elsa’s song “The cold never bothered me anyway.” I don't know why but even though the temperature was way lower than in Tokyo, my ten-day stay here was so exciting. It was freezing yet I was excited to go out. Never a dull moment.
Another reason why I decided to visit these cities was because of my sisters. I haven't seen them in five years and the holidays made it possible for me to travel long and meet them. I made friends with the people in the hostel I stayed at, celebrated my birthday in a new land, took hundreds of pictures everywhere. 2019 ended with so much happiness. More trips and realization in 2020.
